EDO is going to join the BIRD Symposium in Basel, Switzerland
Abstract:
Designers enact and shape the realities as they are in the present, and they create and realize new realities and future possibilities. Designers work on the contingency of the world as it is and explore the world as it could be. It is this designerly way of knowing and acting, which is at the core of the BIRD Design Research Symposium 2008 in Basel, bringing together experienced designers and distinguished researchers from various disciplines.

If you are still a regular reader here, we want to thank you for your time, attention and encouragement. In 2007 we met interesting people and heard what they have to say about experience design. Some of them became friends and we exchanged ideas for EDO’s future. In October the EDOlounge will celebrating the 2 year anniversary. EDO is an ongoing project and we hope you like it and stay with us. See You in 2008.

Creating the Usable Business
Why usability professionals have the skills, and the responsibility, to create more than just usable technology…they need to create truly usable businesses! McQuillen will discuss how usability professionals need to expand their mandate beyond websites and pure usability, how to start, where to focus, and the impact one can expect to have.
